So you just bought a Moroccan rug and are curious on how to easily upkeep it, or you're thinking of purchasing one, but fear they might be too high maintenance ?
Worry not ! Here is a quick read on how to easily clean a Moroccan rug.
Moroccan rugs are made from wool, so natural shedding is common and normal, don't fret !
Set your vacuum cleaner on the highest pile setting and vacuum with the grain, being mindful to avoid the tassels.
Flip it over and vacuum the back !
Take it outside and give it a good shake (having a friend help in this process is ideal)
You can also hang it on the line and give it some gentle whacks with a broom or stick.
If you have an area to let it chill in the sunshine, I would recommend it-- sunshine can kill potentially harmful bacteria, and acts a natural microbe killer.
If you want to lightly spritz the rug with a diluted essential oil of your choice, now's the time ! (lavender, peppermint, tea tree, grapefruit are great options !)
And that's it ! I usually do this once a week, and would recommend that if your rug is in a high-traffic area.
