Handwoven vintage Persian rug

Handwoven wool low pile Persian rug. Measures 10’4”x5’. Features a central medallion with vase and tribal evil eye motifs. This rug has a field of deep indigo with hints of pinks and various shades of indigos throughout. The rug is in good vintage condition.

In Persian tribal rugs, the evil eye motif is often integrated with other protective symbols such as stars, flowers, or animals. The repetition is believed to amplify its protective power. Beyond protection from the evil eye, these motifs can also symbolize good luck, spiritual protection, and the strength of the community.

The vase is a symbol of abundance, fertility, and the life-giving properties of water. It often represents the idea of a bountiful garden, which in Persian culture is associated with paradise.
