Handwoven vintage Persian rug

Handwoven wool low pile Persian rug. Measures 9’11”x4’11”. Features three central medallions with a triple border and boteh, floral and evil eye motifs. This rug has a faded brick field with pops of chocolate and soft jades. The rug is in good vintage condition.

Boteh motifs are one of the most iconic and ancient patterns found in Persian and other Oriental rugs. These motifs are often described as teardrop-shaped, almond, or paisley-like forms that can be stylized and adapted in various ways depending on the region and the weaver’s interpretation. The boteh is thought to symbolize a range of ideas, from a representation of a flame or a tree of life, to more abstract concepts such as fertility, renewal, and eternity.
